Yes to Carrots New Lip Gloss and Tints

In case you haven't heard... Yes to Carrots is coming out with new C Me Shine lip glosses and C Me Blush lip tints! I am a huge fan of their lip butters, read review here, so I was so excited to try out their new lip products. As a VIC (Very Important Carrot) to Yes To Carrots, I was given the opportunity to test these out before they hit the stores...

They sent me a generous package (again!) for me to try. I would honestly have to say that from all 6 lip colors that they offer, I would probably use all 6 colors if I could. They range from a Playful Nude color, a gorgeous almost light brown color with a hint of neutral to Red Hot, a deep red with very light shimmer. The glosses and tints have corresponding color shades but just with different names.

It was hard to pick the first one I would choose, but I decided to try the Carrot kiss, an almost coral/pinkish shade, for the lip gloss and the Natural Smile for the lip tint. They're both easy to carry, especially the lip tints because they're the size of a finger. Their lip glosses are indeed very shiny but doesn't feel sticky or gloopy like many other lip glosses out there. Their lip tints are more matte and you don't need to put on any lip balm beforehand because they already moisturize. I sometimes do put on the Yes to Carrots lip butter in Citrus first just because I like the smell. If only these glosses/tints had a citrus scent...

These lip glosses and tints moisturize well and make your lips feel tingly- they contain peppermint oil. Best of all they contain all-natural ingredients and 95% organic ingredients! So no parabens and other harsh chemicals will be on your lips, and why would anyone want that?

Find Yes to Carrots products at your local drugstore, including Target and Walgreens, and online!

(Disclaimer: I received this product from the company to test, try and share my thoughts with my readers.)

SELF Workout in the Park 2009

SELF magazine is hosting their annual Workout in the Park again in Chicago, New York and San Diego. If you're fortunate enough to live near one of these cities and are able to attend, then I would recommend going. I went to the one in NYC last year and it was a blast! There were tons of ladies and a few gentlemen there who were working out and doing yoga/pilates in the Quiet zone. No previous post available since I started my blog a month after I attended. :)

San Diego- April 25, 2009
New York City- May 9, 2000
Chicago- May, 16 2009

Special guest, Jillian Michaels from NBC's The Biggest Loser, was there (she will be in Chicago this time around) for a meet and greet. We stood in line for almost an hour but it was well worth it! We got to hear her fitness tips, get her autograph and take a picture with her.

The set-up in NYC was constructed to have the sponsor booths placed around the main workout floor/stage and the quiet area behind all the chaos. Since it had rained the day before and I didn't bring my mat so I didn't participate in the Quiet Zone.

Sponsors last year included Physicians Formula (with giveaways, read here) and Asics (giving away workout towels). This year, among the sponsors, we have beauty giants such as Maybelline, Garnier, and Elizabeth Arden. The site doesn't say what goodies/freebies they will be offering, but last year the May issue of SELF magazine promoted them ahead of time by using the "Bring in this ad to the booth" methodology. I didn't see any of this in the current issue, except sponsoring ads encouraging us to check out their booths. I do remember Blue Diamond naturals saying that there will be free samples of almonds/nuts there.

To purchase your tickets for only $15 (recession-friendly pricing) which includes admission AND a one-year subscription to SELF magazine (already a $10 value),

NYLON's New York Girls Night Out on April 28 - 29, 2009

From their website, http://www.newyorkgirlsnightout.com/events/spring-nygno-nyc/,it seems like this event will be similar to the Shecky's Girls Night Out. Their website isn't as fully functional and doesn't have the information that I am looking for- ie:does a ticket purchase mean I can go to both days?

They do offer a VIP ticket, which gives you a goodie bag from their various sponsors, like the Shecky's Goodie Bag.

I won't be able to attend this Spring, but I do look forward to the Holiday event later this year in November. :)

Yes to Carrots products

After my review on the Yes to Carrots lip butter, I was contacted by a company rep who offered to send me product samples to try. Of course, I was happy to take the offer since I wanted to try their other products as well. So I finally received my package this month and I am so happy they sent me such generous sized samples and products in my care package. Thank you!!

Note: The Yes to Carrots company also carries Yes to Tomatoes (for Oily to Combination skin) and Yes to Cucumbers (for Normal to Sensitive skin).

I received samples in their Face Care line including the:
* Yes to Cucumbers Soothing Eye Gel
* Yes to Tomatoes Facial Wash
* Yes to Tomatoes Facial Hydrating Lotion
* Yes to Carrots Night Moisturizing Cream

So far, I have tried the Soothing Eye Gel and Night Moisturizing Cream. The Soothing Eye Gel is definitely soothing on my eyes. It feels like I have a cold compress on my eyes, which is great if you have puffy eyes. I felt the cooling effects immediately after application with this Eye Gel- which I love most about this eye gel. It's made of organic cucumbers, green tea, camomile and dead sea minerals. This product reminded me of the St. Ives Cucumber Eye & Stress Gel, which I believe is discontinued now.

The Night Moisturizing Cream is made for people with normal to dry skin. Since I have oily and combination, I wasn't sure how well this would work for me. But I was amazed in how moisturizing this light cream made my skin feel. It felt so much smoother the whole day afterward. Since my face is a bit on the oily side, I don't have to use a lot. :)

I also received 2 full-sized products:
*Lip Butter in Citrus (I'm already using the Citrus and Melon.) I'll have to wait to finish these to try the others, like Berry and Carrot!

*Yes to Carrots Body Butter, called C Through the Dry Spell.

I am also using the Yes to Carrots Body Scrub which I received from the Shecky's Girls Night Out event (read post here)

They have new products coming out, Lip Glosses and Lip Tints- which I am super excited about, especially if they will be anything like their lip butters! (I'll be posting a sneak peek review on them very soon. Read here!)

Thank you Yes to Carrots for your generous package!!!!!!

(Disclaimer: I received this product from the company to test, try and share my thoughts with my readers.)

Redbook Beauty Bash 2009

redbook beauty bash
At the end of March, I attended the Redbook Beauty Bash in NYC. I am always up for anything beauty related especially in New York! The part I was looking forward to most was getting pampered at the event. They offered spa services such as mini manis and massages, sponsored by Spa Chicks on the Go!

The Midtown Loft & Terrace was packed! I shouldn't be surprised because I waited an hour on line just to get inside. I wasn't able to get a spa treatment because the reservations were booked. However, I did get to learn more and sample products from their sponsors, including Fuze drinks, TicTac CHILL breath mints, and Vickory & Clarke moisturizer.

As a bonus for attending the event, we received a Goodie bag filled with great products from their sponsors. Some of my favorites include:
- Notebook from The Prints Charming Collection, Designed by www.jackiemcfee.com
- OPI nail polish in Suzi & the Lifeguard, one of my fave Pink colors from the OPI collection
- E.L.F. mineral eyeshadow (always wanted to try their mineral makeup line!)

Can't wait to go to next year's event! :)

Product Review: My favorite Mario Badescu products

Here are some sneak peek reviews on my favorite Mario Badescu products. When someone asks me what I use to wash my face or moisturize, I automatically think of the products that I'm currently using. They have been a part of my routine as long as I can remember, so I try to tell everyone who is looking to switch to a new brand about it. (I even recommended it to my friend the other day)

In no particular order, since I like and use them all:
1) Henna & Seamollient Shampoo - I would say this is good shampoo to use because it really cleans your hair and does not have a strong scent to it so your hair ends up smelling natural. It does not leave a residue on your hair which is always a plus. It also lathers very well by using a little more than just a... read more!

2) Honey Moisturizer - I received a sample of their honey moisturizer when I filled out their consultation questionnaire to figure out what products were best for my skin type. After trying this, I was hooked. It's nice and light and absorbs quickly. It's not too thick so I wouldn't use it if you have really dry skin. It is also...read more!

3) Buffering Lotion - I was introduced to this product by a friend who said this helped with her stubborn breakouts. So I followed her recommendation and haven't looked back since. Overall, MB's Buffering lotion has been able to improve my skin where it used to break out a lot. This is a... read more!

4) Body Sunblock (SPF30) - This is the one of the best sunblock protector that I have used for my sensitive skin. Since I am allergic to most products with harsh chemicals, I usually look for ones that contain titanium dioxide. Not only does this one contain that, but it also has aloe and palm oil to make it a good moisturizer. My skin feels... read more

Product Review: John Frieda's Root Awakening product line

Have you seen the ads lately for John Frieda's Root Awakening line in your favorite beauty magazines? I did and after seeing them multiple times, I thought I would try the Health Boosting™ Detangling Spray. My hair can get a bit knotty after a wash so I thought this would great to help detangle them. Also, this spray contains Eucalyptus to make your hair tingle and feel fresh. It feels invigorating and makes my hair smoother and shinier. I normally don't use products in my hair (that's the secret to a healthy mane, ladies!) But this vitamin-enriched spray leaves my hair feeling good and it's a heat-protectant as well.
