Everyday Minerals -Swan Special

There's a current special for Everyday Minerals! Although they do not specify when the special will end, they always update and add new specials periodically. With any order over $21, you will get 3 eyeshadow samples.

Note: August 1, EDM will have NEW products coming out. They already gave us a sneak peek and unveiled their flat-top retractable blush yesterday. So excited!!

Other products that came out include new Lippies, their lip sheer sticks with a nice hint of color, and a Thymeless Concealer set, including reformulated hydrating concealers set of 4 with a concealer brush.

I was hoping to see their new Shady Stroll eye palette and new blush colors but these colors won't be available till later this month or the fall.

Josie Maran in NYC Sephora stores

Josie Maran is coming to two Sephora stores this weekend on July 31 and August 1, 2009. First, she will be here at the old Times Square store on 1500 Broadway on Friday, July 31 from 9AM to 3PM. Then, she will be back on Saturday after a night out in the town (I am guessing since she is in NYC) to celebrate the grand opening of the Sephora store on 42nd Street and 7th Ave. (This is the 5 Times Sq. location) from 1pm to 7pm.

Hopefully she will be in stores for that long for a meet and greet and a picture or two. ;)

Beauty Insiders, check your emails to get a free tote ...

with any purchase at the new Sephora store opening on July 31..

Have you heard of the new Q-tips® Vanity Packs? I got an email in my SPAM folder about a Q-tips® beauty makeover event at Macy's, so I had to check out their website for more information. They are sponsoring makeovers you can get for free (I think) and you can try out a sample of the Vanity Packs.

Natural Skincare Products with Grape Seed Oil and Cocoa Butter

Can you believe July is here and almost over? We're in the second half of our summer and I thought I would share some products that I have gotten so far this summer. They are not products that just launched but things I have picked up and decided to try. Plus, they are all affordable especially for a beauty recessionista!

Queen Helene Grape Seed Extract Peel Off Masque This can be found at your local drugstore, such as Rite-Aid near the other facial products such as St. Ives. It costs around $4 for a 6 .oz container. On the label, it claims to cleans clogged pres, softens facial lines and soothes and tones skin. I've heard Grape Seed is a wonderful antioxidant and can help restore/repair skin. It is especially great for combo/oily skin. I've used this several times already and although i wish it would clean my pores better, my skin feels smooth and refreshed after each time. It also smells grape-y and pleasant. Note: It is important to have the mask dry completely before you try to take it off, otherwise it won't work as well.
Queen Helene 100% Cocoa Butter stick Another Queen Helene product, the cocoa butter stick I purchased was pure luck. I went into a CVS drugstore the day I went to the Women's Health Are You Game event and was browsing. I had read that cocoa butter was an excellent natural moisturizer for your skin and can reduce stretch marks and discoloration of blemishes. I knew that Palmers carried a skin care line with Cocoa Butter and I was looking for something that didn't have any other chemicals as well. So I was lucky to find the Queen Helene 100% pure cocoa butter stick right next to the other one. It was also a bargain for about $1!

Grapeseed Oil To continue my natural skin care kick, I also got a bottle of grapeseed oil, which contains grapeseed oil and vitamin E. You can use this oil for aromatherapy bath, massaging or just plain moisturizing. So far I have incorporated this product after cleansing my face and moisturizing my face. It feels, of course, oily so I have to be careful to use very little of it for my face. A 4 .oz bottle costed me about $5.

All in all, I got 3 great natural skin care products for $10! What a bargain!

To see what other Queen Helene products I am interested in...
1) Mint Julep Masque- supposed to be great for removing blackheads and shrink enlarged pores
2) *New Pomegranate and Raspberry Facial Scrub- great for oily skin
3) *New Avocado and Grapefruit Masque- great for normal skin

Yes to Carrots at Your Local Drugstores with Pictures

I am happy to see that my local Target and drugstore are now carrying new Yes to Carrots products! I happily took some pictures while I was there to document and show you how their displays look like, for your convenience to spot them the next time you go.

I first raved about my Yes to Carrots experience late last year. Read about my favorite YTC product, lip butters, here. I also sampled other goodies from Shecky's Girls Night Out, as they were one of the sponsors, and even more goodies from their Yes to Cucumbers brand which they had generously sent me.

At my drugstore- They finally sell the new Lip Tints and Lip Glosses! Love the display trays for these. Read my review here.
This is a bargain at your local Target. For only $4.99 you get three lip butters or lip tints! As you can see above, each lip butter/tint can cost about $4-5 dollars each. You can share with your other friends and introduce them to Yes to Carrots!
Target is also selling the shower set for only $4.99. It contains their shampoo, conditioner and something else..

Women's Health- Are You Game? Event Recap

Women's Health sponsored the "Are You Game?" event this past Saturday in New York City. Let me say that this was the best fitness event that I have ever been to!! Not only was the view gorgeous (Check out the pictures below on the fabulous view and location- Hudson River Pier 46), the crowd was manageable and there were many great sponsors there. Also, they had an inflatable rock climbing and bungee jumping apparatus there for people and kids to play with. Now, how often can you do that unless you join a gym? They also had samplings of a tea drink and Edy's Slow Churned Yogurt (YUM!!) so you wouldn't get hungry/thirsty.

Maybelline and Garnier Fructis was sponsors of the event, so right when you register, you could see people getting their hair and make-up done. I got there around 10:30AM, so as it got closer to 11AM (right before my workout class started) more and more people came. The lines for the hair and make-up got longer, and the even the lines for the workout class. Some lucky folks were able to take the first class, Lyrical Vinyasa, and squeeze in line to take the second one, Surfboarding, which I took.

To see more pictures and to learn which class I took...

I tend to like workout classes that are smaller, so luckily they capped each class to about 40-50(?). They also had to have a limit because for each class, they provided workout materials. It was either a yoga mat or a towels, but I also did see hula-hoops (for the Hula Hoop Pilates). I was only able to take one class but it was one that I wanted to try out- the Surfboarding class which uses gliding disks which really work out your thighs and abs/arms. Imagine yourself in a squating position, with both feet on the gliding disks and you extend one of your legs in and out to the side. You do that for about 10-15 minutes and switch sides. Another move I learned is doing half pushups with your hands on the gliding disks and then in plank position, you extend your arms out and then back in normal plank position. What a great workout for your arms and back muscles!

The weather was absolutely beautiful so it made the whole event enjoyable. See below!

Urban Decay - New Fall Products

Urban Decay's Fall Collection- Urban's new products are out and available for purchase on their website including new tan colors for bases, new shades for lips and new products such as a cream eyeliner and complexion/mascara primer potions.

Some items that I would like to try:

The Cream Eyeliner. Called Ink for Eyes, it looks easier to use than a liquid eyeliner while getting the same intense look. They are offering 6 different colors of their cream eyeliner, each in a palette in a long rectangular shape, the same size as the brush. The brush is inside the palette so it's easy to travel with. :)

The Mascara Primer Potion.
Perhaps good-bye to mascara running and panda eyes?

Ammo Plus Primer Set. Valued at over $50, you get a full-size Primer Potion and 10 eyeshadow shades for $39.

Physicians Formula Organic wear® Makeup Removers

Physicians Formula has a new product for their Organic wear® line- Makeup Removers. They are offering the makeup removers in 4 different formulas- cotton pads, liquid, towelettes and lotion. I personally like to use baby oil to remove my eye makeup and my usual face wash with a cellulose sponge to get rid of any face makeup. Their new offerings seem great to use and I can't seem to choose just one. :)

What I like most about the Organic wear® line is that it is true to its advertising- "Hypoallergenic. 100% Free of Harsh Chemicals. 100% Free of Synthetic Preservatives. 100% Free of Parabens. 100% Free of GMO's. 100% Free of Synthetic Colors. 100% Free of Synthetic Fragrances. 100% Cruelty Free." I have found their other products to be pretty good, in terms of its staying power, considering it is using non-chemicals.

Check out my reviews on: Organic wear® mascara and Bronzer/Blush compact, Bronzer compact, and eyeliner.

According to their site, the Makeup Removers are formulated with "Eco-Aroma Therapy™ to condition and soothe: OrganiSoy® to moisturize and help nourish lashes; Eco-Olive®, natural antioxidant, to help shield lashes from harsh environmental aggressors; Organic Orange Water to help nourish and restore delicate skin's moisture balance; Organic Lavender Essential Oil, sweet, natural scent for a calming effect."

I noticed that the lotion contains Organic Jojoba Seed Oil and Vitamin E to "moisturize and help protect skin." I've heard great things about using Jojoba oil for your face.

Some details on their product: (description based on Physicians Formula's website)

Pads: 100% naturally soft pads remove eye makeup with no greasy residue. Ultra gentle formula hydrates skin and conditions lashes. Infused with Organic Cucumber Extract to soothe the delicate skin of the eye area. (60 pads)
Towelettes: 100% naturally soft towelettes gently remove traces of makeup and impurities leaving skin soft and supple. Ultra gentle formula conditions and helps soften skin. Infused with Organic Aloe Vera Extract to condition.

Lotion:
Water-rinsable formula eliminates makeup leaving skin soft and supple. Infused with Organic Jojoba Seed Oil and Vitamin E to moisturize and help protect skin. (5. Fl oz.- so not TSA/air-line friendly)

Liquid:
Easily removes eye makeup with no greasy residue. Ultra gentle formula hydrates skin and conditions lashes. Infused with Organic Cucumber Extract to soothe the delicate skin of the eye area.

To learn how to get a $5 rebate on this product...

Just fill out the rebate form here. Physicians Formula is also offering rebates on their Organic wear 100% Natural Origin Mascara, Bronze Booster, and Mineral Wear® FaceBrighteners™ and BronzeBrighteners™.

I will be on the lookout for this product at my local drugstores!
