Wedding GlossyBox - Revealed!

GlossyBox, an original UK-based subscription box and now available in the US, recently had a limited edition Wedding-themed Glossy Box. I snagged a few for gifts and for myself, and was excited to see the goodies they had to share. The collection contained full-size products that would be perfect for the big day to keep yourself polished and looking pretty- from nails to glowing skin to gorgeous lashes. Here's what I got:

* Babor Mineral Bronzing Pearls- unlike a lot of pressed powders for bronzing, these mineral beads can help create the perfect shimmer for a gorgeous complexion. This retails for $20 and from what I can see, it will last for a looong time.

* BeautyBird Nail Polish- a cute light pink shade is perfect for everyday and the big day! It's appropriately named, "Yes, I Do!"

* Emite Make Up sponges- these soft sponges can be used for any liquid cream, foundation, or blush for a smooth, even coverage. Also perfect for under the eyes. I've personally been using brushes for a while, but these are great for pressing makeup into your skin.

* Naobay Moisturizing Facial Peel- Get your skin ready for the BIG DAY with this facial peel. Recommended to get facials at least 6 months before the day to slough off dead skin cells; this was gentle enough to use even a few days before the big day.

* Biolage Exquisite Oil Replenishing Treatment- Hair Oil is how I see this, and what a great one to give it some shine and boost!

You've got pretty much everything covered in this box and all you need is that cute accessory for your shoes! These cute shoe bows can be worn for any party and make a black shoe pop with this cute bow.

Check out www.butterflystudiosalon.com to learn more about their services in New York City or if you want to learn how YOU can do this at-home,

Follow these simple tips to get the style of your choice:

Simple Half Up/Half Down Tousled Hair
-After shampooing hair, apply texture cream such as Tesai cream to towel dried hair.
-Allow hair to almost completely air dry or diffuse with a blow dryer and when the hair is 95% dry, shake it out and wrap random sections vertically around a 1 inch curling iron away from the face.
-Hold the curling iron vertically and wrap the hair around without letting the iron close.
-Grab 2-3 sections from each side of the desired part from both the front and the back, intertwining each section until you reach the back of head.
-Secure with a pin and repeat on other side.

Bohemian Inspired Up-Do

-In order to achieve this look, the hair should be air-dried so the natural texture of the hair can be used.
-Section off the hair from ear to ear so that the bottom half can be wrapped into a loose ponytail close to the nape.
-Taking the remainder of the hair on top , use a hair spray such as the Shu Uemura Iron Design, for hold and wrap large vertical sections around a 1 inch curling iron.
-Make sure all sections are moving away from the head.
-Pin random sections around the ponytail, intertwining them into a loose bun shape.

Jersey Shore Wedding- Part 2 Beauty Tips

At every wedding, there is always someone designated to do the bride's makeup, usually a makeup artist, a professional or a good friend. At the Jersey Shore wedding that I attended, there was a professional makeup artist who worked in weddings as a part-time job. We were all eager to chat with her about beauty tips, her experiences in the industry, and her schooling to get into the business. She told us about her struggles with juggling a full-time job and classes for her cosmetology license. She also said her main driving force was her passion for cosmetics/beauty and doing what she loves. :)

So a few basic tips that she told us to get a bride-beautiful face included:
1)Use primer! Primer will give your face/eyes a clean slate and palette so the colors will look their best. If you have dark circles around your eyes, you can use a yellow based primer to neutralize the discoloration around that area. Primers can also be used to control the oil on your face, to prevent shininess throughout the day.

2)Ask the bride what look she wants. The bride opted for a very natural look so minimal color was used, while looking fresh and gorgeous. She mixed two blush colors to achieve a radiant glow. She also used basic black eyeliner and a light, neutral shimmery shade for her eyelids.

3)Don't stick with just one brand. We had asked her what her favorites were and while she mentioned MAC, she told us that there were so many different companies with similar formulas so don't stick with just one name brand.

Other advice/tips in general included:
1) Checking for expiration dates on products.
2) Going to makeup shows to see new products/brands/colors and learn more about makeup!

Here are some pictures of her stash:

Jersey Shore Wedding - Part 1

Recap:
This weekend I went to a friend's wedding and it was absolutely gorgeous! Not only was it fun catching up with good friends but the overall atmosphere was so nice. It was a small wedding and most of the guests stayed in the same Bed & Breakfast. (The breakfast was delicious, by the way) It was the first time I ever stayed at a B&B so the experience was interesting. All the rooms were furnished with its own decor. The ceremony and reception was so beautiful (as was the tasty wedding cake.) Congratulations to the bride & groom!!

Bed & Breakfast
Here's are some pictures of the B&B I stayed in, including the room:

The view of the front gardens from one of the rooms.

The view of the grand kitchen, where the yummy breakfasts were made (including fresh, delicious blueberry muffins.) Unfortunately, guests were not allowed in this area. The kitchen is stunning and I really love the island :)

This is a view of the living room area. They had board games, books, and travel information.

This is the opposite side of the room with a nice table and two chairs. In the middle of the room (now shown) is a couch seating area overlooking a fireplace.

This is a picture of the bedroom I stayed in. This only shows one of the double beds, and this was my roomie's side. The decor was very pink, as you can tell. Pink sheets and drapes and yellow walls. Very girly!
This picture here is the view from the main entrance. Once you walk inside the grand mansion, you see the staircase and this common area. The wedding ceremony actually occurred between the two staircases. The groomsmen and groom walked up the stairs and the bridesmaids and bride walked down the top stairs to meet in the middle. :)

Lake Tahoe Wedding- Part 1

On a beautiful sunny weekend, a trip out to Lake Tahoe was made for a friend's wedding. Traveling there will give you gorgeous mountainous views! Stayed at the Ridge, it was nice and quaint, but the only negative about it, was there was NO SHAMPOO!!

Take a look at these pictures: It's beautiful during the summer. There weren't a lot of people there which was good but it is best to travel when it is not raining. Driving up the mountain can be dangerous especially if you're a first-timer!
