VitalJuice Pop-Up Wellness Retreat in New York City 2009

This past weekend was VitalJuice's first Pop-Up Wellness Retreat- a three-day bonanza of spa treatments, fitness classes and healthy food samplings. They rented the space of what used to be the Virgin Megastore, before they closed, in the heart of Union Square. Although the event was open to the public, it seemed pretty hush-hush as they didn't just want anybody coming in. The security guard asked us what we were here for and we just told him, "VitalJuice."

One sponsor that was giving away samples of their product was SoyJoy. I had never tried their bars before and I was pleasantly surprised. (I tried the Apple flavor and could taste real natural bits of apple pieces inside the bar.) They cost about a dollar a bar, so it is a bit pricey. The packaging makes the product look a bit more like a granola bar but it is actually thinner, like a biscotti. Nevertheless it is a tasty treat full of fiber, protein and omega-3. It is a great pre-workout snack!

Another yummy treat I had was from the World of Grains. They offered Cranberry cookies and Garden Vegetable crackers to taste and bring home. After trying their sweet cookies- I am sold! Luckily they are available in Whole Foods across the country. They are selling 4 little packs with about 6-7 cookies in each pack in a box for about $4-5. Again, also a bit pricey but it tastes delicious and it is good for you too! I can't wait to try their other flavors of cookies- including Apple Cinnamon, Blueberry, Multigrain, and Oatmeal Raisin. Their other flavors of crackers include Garlic Herb, Tomato Basil, Rosemary and Multigrain.

Whole Foods was also another sponsor and they provided delicious home-made breakfast bars. They also came out with a cart full of apples. :) The workouts were provided by Crunch and seemed like a lot of fun. I didn't attend any but I did get to play some table tennis. (There was a table right when you walked inside the building.)

This Wellness Retreat by VitalJuice was a lot of fun to sample and try out different healthy products. I am so glad they were able to do coordinate this event for us and I look forward to attending next year's event!
