Burt's Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser

burts bees orange essence facial cleanser

Review: The Burt's Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser is a 100% natural product and one of my favorite scented cleansers. Its citrus smell definitely wakes you up during the morning. I have a travel size tube which I brought me with on my vacation. Every morning after I used this, I was awake and refreshed. The orange oils calmed my skin and it felt nice & smooth after washing.

EcoTools Cosmetic bags by Alicia Silverstone

EcoTools Cosmetic bags by Alicia Silverstone
It's finally here! The EcoTools by Alicia Silverstone collection with cosmetic bags and brush sets are available this month (December) at your local Walgreens or online retailers such as Drugstore.com, which is cheaper than at Amazon.

(Note: Images are from Paris Presents, EcoTool's parent company.)

There are five different pieces you can choose from. All bags are made with natural hemp material and the lining of the bags are made with recycled plastic. The more I look at them, the more I want to get them!!

If you haven't tried their brushes before and want some synthetic, soft brushes with sustainable bamboo handles, you can get either:

the 5pc Brush Set & Bag Cosmetic Brush Bag with a limited edition blush brush

The other three options are cosmetic bags only with a beautiful floral design that is printed with non-toxic inks. In order of price (high to low) and left to right, is the Overnight Bag which is not a duffel bag but just a larger cosmetic bag, the Train case, and a regular cosmetic bag.

Maybelline Eyestudio Eyeshadow Quads

Quick beauty finds from Vegas- Maybelline Eyestudio Eyeshadow Quads-

I saw this at the CVS on the Vegas strip and couldn't help but take a few pics to share. I didn't buy any but I will be on the lookout to see if they are selling these back home.

From what I hear, they have already been selling similar quads in Asia, and they are now just turning up in the States. What do you think?

They look iridescent and so sparkly! Gorgeous- yay or nay? They cost $9.99- which is probably why I did not purchase any..

They also have Lasting Drama by Eyestudio which are gel liners ($6.99) and Color Pearls ($9.99), which are two shades, shimmery eyeshades.

Bear Naked Cereal in Cranberry Raisin

bear naked cereal
A few months ago, I requested a sample of the Bear Naked 100% Pure & Natural Cereal in Cranberry Raisin. I had a choice of either this flavor or Banana Nut. I finally received it several weeks ago and it came in this little orange box, along with a coupon.

bear naked cereal
Based on the box, you can already tell what kind of company Bear Naked is.

Needless to say what I had for breakfast the next day...

Review:
I had my first Bear Naked granola experience this summer while I was on vacation- it was quite good. When I heard about the free sample offer, I figured-why not give this a try? The cereal is definitely delicious- it contains good for ingredients such as whole grain flakes, crunchy clusters and real cranberries! There is no artificial anything used to make this cereal so you taste all-natural flavors.

You can purchase your breakfast here for $4.49 for a 12.5 ounce bag at their Store website, or at your local market. If you become a Bear Den member (free to join) you get automatic discounts of 5% (may vary) every time you purchase on their web store. Enjoy!

2009 Shecky's NYC Holiday Night Out Recap

This year's Shecky's Holiday Night Out in NYC was so much fun! I went last year but the venue @Puck is so much better since there's more room to mingle. Also, if I recall correctly, the weather was horrible last year- it was pouring but this year, it was nice! I went on a Friday, but if you went on Saturday this year.. you may disagree (ie: the blizzard came.)

So Santa surprised me with two goodie bags :) Double the loot to use and share! I was one of the early birds so I got a nice train case from Beauty Fix!

Shecky's Goodie bag
If you want to see pictures of the goodie bag, you must request and comment below! Thanks! I'm trying to gauge interest in haul pictures..

Located the Puck Building in Soho, the event was spread out in three rooms with many vendors selling jewelry, stationary, crochet hats, socks, cosmetics, etc. I bought some gifts and also the cutest stationery from the Bonnie Marcus Collection. Stay tuned to my post featuring their products...

Also like previous Shecky's events, I participated in the Beer Tasting, sponsored by Bud Light.. yum! Trying new beers with different food pairings.

Shecky's Holiday Night Out
Shecky's Beer tasting

Of the four I tasted, my fave was Kirin Light because it was the lightest and tasted the best. I definitely did not like the Hoegaarden; it was cloudy and did not taste smooth at all.. yuk!

Overall, it was a fun shopping event to hang out and catch up with friends! If you would like to join me next time, let me know!

My goodie bag...enjoy!

Holiday Series #9: Gift exchanges

One more week till Christmas! Have you done any or most of your Christmas shopping yet? It's such a hallmark holiday here with Santa, elves, gifts, etc.. but it's also about spending time with friends and family with goodies in between.

So far, I have participated in two White Elephant gift exchanges, where people bring in a generic gift worth a said amount and then people choose gifts based on their numbers. If they like a present that someone opened already, they can steal it! :)

I have two more Secret Santa exchanges to participate in (can't wait!!) which is much different than the White Elephant game. In Secret Santa, you actually know who you have to buy the gift for, so you can be more creative if you wish or actually get something from their wishlist.

I use Elfster to handle all the gift exchanges online because their site works wonders! :)

What kind of gift exchanges are you participating in this year?

Stay tuned to my last Holiday Series post on my gifts!! :)

Product Review: LAVANILA The Health Deodorant

Source: www.sephora.com
I have to admit I'm one of the lucky ones that doesn't need to use a deodorant all the time. :) You all know I am all about using natural products when possible so when I received this All-natural, free of chemicals, healthy deodorant by LAVANILA Laboratories to try, I was pleasantly surprised that it worked just as well as others I have tried in the past. To truly test its effectiveness, I used it while doing a 30 minute (intense-hehe) workout. Results? Passed with flying colors.

I first heard about LAVANILA Laboratories when I tried a sample of the Vanilla Grapefruit fragrance from Sephora. Vanilla smells clean and crisp and with the fruity grapefruit scent; the citrus flavor gave the overall scent a great kick. Its sweet scent is subtle enough for everyday wear and also strong enough to wear on a night out.

This is available at Sephora for $18, which is a bit pricey compared to a ~$5 one you can get at your local drugstore. But this one will last so long and it's natural ;)

(Disclaimer: I received this product from this company's PR agency to test, try and share my thoughts with my readers.)

Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange Travel Set

In my previous Holiday Series post, I mentioned a must-have for the holidays- the Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange Travel Set. Inside the box is a wonderful trio- the solid perfume, the soy candle and body butter.

Purchased from Sephora, this set costs $14. It's a great deal because you get a full-size solid perfume which would normally cost $9.

I had originally bought their soap, which unfortunately is not part of the set, because I want another one! The scent is amaazing- smells so fruity and delicious!

Now, you can see these products really tiny but they're great for traveling (except for the candle, unless you want your hotel room to smell nice too!)

The solid perfume is great for your pocket or purse- which I carry with me everyday!

The body butter is white but goes on very smoothly. It also absorbs quickly and doesn't leave an oily finish.

To see why else you should get one of these today..

Gorgeous packaging! This is such a cute box that you can reuse to store your other precious cosmetics and other small trinkets.

More details on what exactly Tuscan Blood Orange is, if you're curious. I was! :)

BUST Holiday Craftacular in NYC

To continue the Crafty weekend, I attended this year's BUST Holiday Craftacular in New York City on December 6, 2009. It was one of the largest fairs I have ever attended and it was so much fun! With over 200 vendors selling jewelry, crafts, plush dolls, stationary, cards, hand-made soaps and balms, the fair was full of eager people to see and buy these hand-made goodies!

As a bonus for waiting in line early in the morning, the first 500 people were gifted with a goodie bag filled with sample products from participating vendors. (Follow me for my next posting on my goodie bag!) The weather was sunny and very cold outside, which made the anticipation to go inside even greater.

Here are a pictures of what happened behind the doors at the craft fair... (P.S. Not sure if I was allowed to take pics even though noone said explicitly I wasn't allowed and noone else took any either. Although one vendor stalked me halfway through the fair to ask me what I was doing with those pictures.. Proof: They really are for my BLOG!) Enjoy!
